"It terrifies me to think about the future..." | Siouxsie's DLD story

Описание: Imagine being 19 years old and struggling to be understood. That’s life with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), a condition that affects two children in every average classroom of 30 in the UK.

In this video, Siouxsie shares her story of growing up with DLD at a meeting with our Board of Trustees. She talks about the struggles of navigating the education system, the long fight for support, and her hopes and plans for the future.

She also tells us how we at Speech and Language UK can do more to raise awareness of DLD. This is an important part of our mission as a charity working to change the lives of the two million children facing challenges with talking and understanding words. We learnt a lot from Siouxsie and are determined to make sure her voice, and that of other young people, continue to be at the heart of our work.
