In this edition of the Research Seminar Series, Dr. Annie Lin shares her research on the gut-immune brain axis. Her work is presented through a systems-level framework that integrates the roles of the microbiome, immune signaling, mitochondrial function, and their collective impact on brain health.
Dr. Lin highlights common mechanisms underlying many chronic illnesses and how they are interconnected through the immune-brain axis. She further explores practical, nutrition-based interventions aimed at modulating these pathways, emphasizing the critical role of dietary and lifestyle changes in shifting health outcomes.
By applying a systems biology perspective, Dr. Lin examines how dysregulation in these interconnected systems contributes to inflammation and symptoms, including oral-systemic inflammation.
