"Carnival at the Museum: A Climate Fete" at the American Museum of Natural History is a high-energy after-hours event. Held in collaboration with I Am CaribBeing and the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), the evening celebrates Caribbean culture while highlighting climate resilience.
This Caribbean Carnival event offers a vibrant blend of music, culture, and science.
Live Entertainment: The event features beats by Hot 97's DJ Young Chow in the iconic Milstein Hall of Ocean Life (under the Blue Whale), along with performances by Mas dancers and Moko Jumbies.
Food and Drink: Attendees can taste Caribbean bites like curried patties and coco bread from Chef Kwame Onwuachi of Tatiana, as well as doubles from Trinciti and currant rolls from Allan's Bakery. Drink tickets are available for purchase on-site.
Interactive Experiences: The night includes access to the museum's galleries after-hours, a pop-up marketplace with local makers, and the Invisible Worlds immersive experience.
Climate Discussions: The event kicks off #BlackClimateWeek with conversations and "Lightning Lectures" on how extreme weather and the heat island effect impact Caribbean communities in the islands and NYC.
