In this video, I show the difference between full Automatic AF, Select AF with expanded AF enabled and Spot AF in AF.C (Continuous Auto Focus).
There seems to be some misunderstandings regarding the terminologies between the terms Tracking, Continuous, and Expanded.
Tracking is simply following the subject across the field of view.
Continuous Auto Focus is allowing the Auto Focus to work continuously until you let go of the button, so if your subject moves, the camera can re-acquire focus as the subject moves as long as they're where that centre focus point is (Spot).
Expanded Auto Focus allows neighbouring focus points to pick up the subject as it moves across the field of view without you having to keep them in the centre (SEL - Expanded, also allows you to change the main focus point and keep the tracking enabled).
Auto allows the camera to make all the focus decisions based on distance to subject, most contrast and what's closest to the camera regardless if it's in the centre or off to the side. The camera will pick the easiest thing it can focus on.
