Описание: At this stage I am leaving the protection of Slaughterhouse Combe as I climb up a narrow' cantoc' heading for Somerton Combe as part of the circular walk. As I climb higher the magnificent Quantock Hills and landscape come into view and with spectacular displays of Autumn colours--I home in on the tall pine trees in the distance--memorial trees in memory of those that served in WWII and plan A was to eventually reach the trees later in the walk on the return walk to Holford Green....These tall pine trees look so majestic in the distance and the location does them justice as they stand tall for the people remembered. As I continue the mist adds to the beautiful effect of the combes--a shroud of mystery and beauty and this is enhanced by the appearance of the Red Deer on the hill in the distance--a whole family of deer well camouflaged and alert--I spotted them and they certainly were aware of my appearance--I shout out 'Hi' to them as I walk by but I do try and take a few images but I did not have the magnification to get as close as I would have liked on this occasion...It was just great to see them--the beating heart of the Quantock Hills-----beautiful creatures--the spirit here that gives Holford its unique and quintessential aura----its good to see them, very good xxx After the deer I turn to descend to Somerton Combe.
