Tree Trimming Skidder in Operation

Описание: To satisfy the wishes of a good number of the viewers of the first video, a few minutes were recorded of the machine in operation under the high power lines that pass through my property. Unfortunately it was requested by the crew chief to maintain a safe 300' distance as required by their insurance.

The operator had told me that the blade could be rotated either direction at any angle so if you skip to about 5:05 you can see that function fairly well. (But if you do FF you may miss some cool footage). You will also notice how rapidly the boom telescopes in and out. It is incredibly fast in both actions, up and down as well as in and out. He verified that my guess of 45' to 60' was wrong....this will telescope out to 70'. Its angle of lift is limited, because the operator cannot cut above a given angle to keep debris from falling on the machine itself.

Right at the end of the video will be a pair of surprises....one has four legs and one has two....both though, are a bit hairy. A cousin (the two legged hairy one) saw the previous video then sent me a picture of him standing by the skidder he ran for a logging company for a number of years for a bit of a comparison of the running gears and other physical attributes of the machines. His real skidder is fitted with a monster winch for obvious reasons but has basically the same articulation steering, hydrostatic all wheel drive and front blade. The second surprise (the four legged hairy one) is a cameo appearance by my faithful shopdog Layla !! Always happy to provide a wagging tail and a mouthful of slobbers, she responds to a whistle and a call.
