Highfield Harpenden Arrival 1954

Two children are taken into emergency care at Highfield Children's Home at Harpenden in 1954.
The governor Ted Shutt welcomes two young children into Highfield.
The small girl that is already in the Home, shows the girl when she gets out of the car what she can expect whilst she is here, by lightly hitting her on the bottom.
This is Highfield - Your new Home.
He takes them into his study and makes them comfortable in their first few minutes at the Children's Home. He gives them a biscuit and looks at the toys they have brought. The small boy is wise enough to keep his ball out of the hands of this man. The governor then takes them both across the grass at Highfield to the flat they will live in.
The children meet the lady that will look after them. The Sister that will look after them has ten other children that live in the flat. Both boys and girls of different ages. Sally and Christopher are now taken to meet the other children who are having tea. All the children soon tuck into the food on the table.

The Family at Flat 15 are:
Sister Ena Woodhurst, David and Robert Steadman, Beryl Lee, Richard (Ricky) Todd. Christopher is played by Terry Steggles.
