After 52 years as the director of choral activities at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, Dr. Axel Theimer is retiring. During his tenure, he has impacted countless lives. Although the Covid-19 pandemic has put in-person concerts on hold, singers from the classes of 1971-2024 found a way to honor their beloved director, in song, across the screen.
Joining together from across the country, they perform a beloved favorite of Dr. Theimer's: "I Have Had Singing" by Ron Jeffers. It calls to mind the shared experiences these alum have of singing in the halls of CSB and SJU under Theimer's direction. "There was so much singing then! We all sang, and this was my pleasure too. I have had pleasure enough, I have had singing."
