Could and SHOULD have been magical - SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide Review

Описание: SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide uses its supernatural theme to bring a new flavour to the realm of recent SpongeBob 3D platformers, despite not every great new idea being fully fleshed out.

In an era where wholesome 3D platformers only seem to be getting fewer and farther between, I'm more than happy for SpongeBob SquarePants (of all things) to become the genre’s unofficial modern custodian. After all, developer Purple Lamp did a pretty excellent job remaking PS2 classic Battle for Bikini Bottom a few years ago. An experience it has since carried forward into 2023’s The Cosmic Shake, and now Titans of the Tide.

Like these two previous instalments, SpongeBob’s latest doesn't do anything to propel the acts of jumping, collecting, and gliding into the great unknown. But regardless of whether you're a longtime SpongeBob fan or not, his and Patrick's mission to save Bikini Bottom from a ghostly outbreak has a few neat ideas that, while not Earth-shattering, just about makes it worth a plunge.
