What area of confidence do you want to feel better about?
I am a smart person who has felt like an idiot, but I recently shifted that belief, partly from EMDR therapy, but also using this simple exercise:
Divide your paper into 3 columns. Then
1) Write down the major events in your life starting with childhood time that you remember feeling that way.
2) For each event, in the second column, write down the belief that came at the time of that event or experience.
3) In the third column, write down a positive pivot--your new belief or the new place you are in life.
As a follow up to this exercise, on a separate sheet of paper copy all the nee beliefs from the 3rd column of the first paper. Then reread these new beliefs or positive pivots to yourself daily to anchor them into your belief system and let go of those old beliefs that had you criticizing yourself. Now you can let go of that habit and create a new habit of feeling better about yourself.
