Clearly, Santorini offers much more than Oia, Thira, and their donkeys. Unknown villages, Pirgos, Megalochori, Akrotiri, Imerovigli, and Emporio are precious and amazingly rewarding. We traveled by car and by ferry, to keep our freedom of choice and movement. Everything you see in the booklets is true, but what you cannot see there are scents, the people from all over the world and the locals, the colors, the smell of the flowers, sometimes the sulphuric gases emerging from the underground, the amazing food of local tavernas, the waves, the colored sands, and the rocks, once melted lava.
If you will ever put Santorini on your wish list, consider spending at least a week there.
You won't regret it!
