Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said a free bus service introduced for schoolchildren is showing early success in reducing the number of vehicles during peak school hours along Stapok Road.
He said parents have expressed greater confidence in the service due to safety features such as tracking equipment installed on the buses, allowing two-way communication between children and their parents while in transit.
“This is a new approach that I am trying, and as I mentioned earlier, it has been successful. We will expand it to other schools with the cooperation of the community and the PTA”, he said when met by reporters after officiating the Free School Bus Initiative and Smart Classroom 2026 at SJK Chung Hua No. 6 today (Jan 12).
