It is of the construction of a public cabin on public lands almost completely by volunteers. Saw Mill time, some Helicopter time and 90% of the labor where donated by local Alaskans wanting to keep cabin on the Tongass. Wood came from donations and FS administrative use wood. This cabin is near the top of a mountain in Ketchikan that receives a estimate of 15 feet of snow a year. Some winters much more. I have seen it with easily over 30 feet. Skiers and Hikers use this cabin year around. Cost today I'd guess of $100,000. It is built with yellow cedar and the wood was transported to site by heli. Not cheap.
