In this video, we reviewed the Clearwater Lake Campground at the south end of Clearwater Lake in Wells Gray Provincial Park. At the far end of the Clearwater Corridor, two campgrounds sit just 500 meters apart - Clearwater Lake Campground and Falls Lake Campground. Set against a backdrop of scenic views, hiking trails, and waterfalls, they serve well as either a destination or a starting point for exploring the area. Both campgrounds have pit toilets, and as of 2023, a new water treatment system supplies drinkable water throughout the sites.

This vehicle-accessible front-country campground hosts a total of 40 sites, with a relaxed, forested setting just off Wells Gray Park Road.

🚗 Getting There
From Clearwater, you’ll travel 43 km on paved highway and another 28 km on well-maintained dirt road, ending at the campground near the boat launch. The dirt section is smooth-packed—though you may feel a few bumps—so take it easy. From Vancouver, this campground is about 550km away.

Basic Amenities:
Pit toilets, potable water, picnic tables, fire rings, sani‑dump, and coin-operated showers.

On-site Osprey café offers breakfast, coffee and pizza. Campers can purchase firewood and snacks from the general store located at the entrance of the Clearwater Lake campground. Wi‑Fi is available for a fee at the cafe, but there is no cell service at this campground.

🌲 Recreation & Highlights
Boating & Water Access: A boat launch at the south of the campground offers rentals for canoeing, kayaking, and guided lake tours. Jet-skis aren’t allowed.

Trails & Scenery: Close to short lakeshore trails and a route to Osprey Falls viewpoint. Trails like Chain Meadows and Norman’s Eddy leave near the corridor, offering more hiking and fishing options.

Fishing & Wildlife: Rainbow trout fishing is popular. Wildlife may include osprey, bald eagles, deer, and bears—so it’s wise to keep food stored and stay alert on trails.

Season & Fees: Campground runs mid-May to December; expect around CAD 23/night for camping, plus fees for showers, dump stations, and firewood
