Measuring road quality isn’t cheap. Laser instrumented vehicles, which usually measure road quality, can cost several hundred dollars per mile to operate—which is far too expensive for many agencies.
As an alternative, CSHub has developed Carbin, an app that measures road quality and its impact on fuel consumption while directing users to their destination. Carbin can offer agencies anonymous and affordable road quality data while providing users with a rich understanding of the infrastructure around them.
In this webinar, CSHub research assistant Meshkat Botshekan compares data collected by Carbin users to those from conventional laser scanning technologies. The data, he explains, are strikingly alike.
Carbin is available on the App Store and Google Play and has collected over 250,000 miles of data since 2019.
