Around 75% of Jamaican men and over 50% of Jamaican women have no certified skills, and nearly 80% of the population has no tertiary education. Then when reality hits in America—where degrees, skills, and productivity matter—we start saying the system is unfair. The truth is, you can’t compete in a global economy with just hustle and pride. This same lack of education and skills is one of the biggest reasons Jamaica’s economy can’t grow. No skills, no innovation. No education, no progress. Until we change our mindset and start taking education and skill-building seriously, we’ll keep repeating the same struggle—both in America and in Jamaica.
