Dan from Michigan here again, providing an update on my fasting journey. I'm 42.5 hours in and still feeling good, with only a couple of waves of hunger, highlighting the positive fasting results I'm experiencing. This shows the fasting benefits can extend beyond just weight loss, impacting overall well-being. For those considering how to fast, especially if you're already doing intermittent fasting, remember that managing hunger while fasting is key.
Dan from Michigan here with my Day 2 extended water fast update.
I’m 42.5 hours in and feeling surprisingly solid. Not really hungry — just experiencing a few waves. If you’ve done intermittent fasting before, getting through Day 1 usually isn’t too bad. But Day 2? That’s where it can get interesting.
Here’s what I cover in this update:
• Starting weight: 190.2 lbs
• 36-hour weight: 187.6 lbs
• Down 2.6 pounds already
• Hunger waves vs real hunger
• Growth hormone increases after 24–48 hours
• Autophagy and cellular cleanup
• Why I may continue beyond 72 hours
• Hoping this helps my shoulder healing
At 68 years old, growth hormone naturally declines. One of the reasons I’m doing this extended fast is to potentially stimulate growth hormone production and trigger autophagy — the body’s natural cellular repair process.
If you’re considering a longer fast, do your own research. I recommend looking up Dr. Jason Fung and other science-based explanations on extended fasting benefits.
I’ll be back at the 72-hour mark with another update.
