Eid in Scotland- the Ladakhi way. From Ladakhi Yak butter to Scottish Shortbread. My Eid Edition 🌙

It's Eid al Adha on a Friday in the UK. 🇬🇧Eid Mubarak to all of you. 🌙

Started my day with prayers and then a warm cuppa coffee to get through the day. Did some grocery shopping for Eid. I had done some cooking the previous night, so watch my vlog to see what I cook! 🥘 🍲 🍗

Eid means happiness and Eid ul Adha is symbolic of the sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim made for Allah, remembering his legacy, how he was ready to give up what he loved the most & how Allah returned it to him in a better form and rewarded him ten folds. 🤲🏻 🐑

I spent the rest of the day with Phillida and John and we had visitors from London- Judy & John. We had neighbors over too. It was lively and busy on Eid. It also reminded me of Eid in Ladakh when all the children would refuse to sleep on Arafat night and put henna on their hands. Get ready first thing in the morning on Eid day and get Eidi from family and relatives, would visit relatives and friends on Eid. 🌙

And after the 🐑 is sacrificed, we would take that over to all relatives, friends, neighbors and the needy because that's what's it's for & would also make nice meals of it on the following days.

Later in the evening, I went to a Syrian family's to wish them on Eid. They had prepared delicious middle Eastern meals. They all danced to some middle Eastern songs & it was joyful and fun- just as it should be on Eid.
