She Got a Deep Plane Facelift in Her 50s — These Are the Procedures We Performed

This patient showed the three classic signs of facial aging including gravitational descent, volume loss, and texture changes to the skin. To restore her youthful foundation Dr Balikian performed a deep plane facelift to lift the deeper structures of the face, soften the marionette lines, and restore gentle fullness to the midface. By releasing and repositioning the deeper muscle layers, the lift remains tension free and natural in motion. He then sculpted the neckline with a vertical neck lift, tightening underlying muscles and removing laxity beneath the chin to restore elegant definition from jaw to collarbone.

A small temple lift was performed to blend the upper and lower face and to smooth mild skin redundancy that appears when lifting more comprehensively. She also had excess skin of the upper eyelids that made her look tired, so Dr Balikian performed an upper blepharoplasty to remove the redundant skin and open up her eyes, creating a brighter and more rested appearance. The entire approach was designed to work harmoniously, blending every area so no single feature looked operated or overdone.

To complete the rejuvenation Dr Balikian treated the skin itself. Fine lines and texture changes were improved with a fractional CO2 laser around the eyes and mouth. The medium setting around the eyes helps tighten crepiness, while a stronger setting around the lips softens deep lines and smooths the surface for a more even tone. Combining deep structural lifting with surface renewal allows the skin, muscle, and contours to heal together for a balanced and refined outcome.
