Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, which literally translates into 'The Beautiful Song by God', comprises of 700 shlokas. It is in the form of a dialogue between Shri Krishna and Arjun that takes immediately before the beginning of the Mahabharata war where Shri Krishna imparts some of the beautiful aspects of vedic knowledge to Arjun including bhakti, moksha, yog, karma, dharma, adharma, duty and responsibility.

The entire dialogue is actually a commentary by Sanjay, the trusted aide of King Dhritrashtra, who uses his Divine Vision to view the proceedings and give a commentary to King Dhritrashtra.


महाभारत के युद्ध के प्रसंग में महत्वपूर्ण बात ये है की इसमें पूरी कथा धृतराष्ट्र और उनके ख़ास सेवक संजय के मध्य हो रहे संवाद में प्रस्तुत करी गयी है जहाँ संजय अपनी दिव्यदृष्टि का उपयोग करके युद्धभूमि का सम्पूर्ण वृत्तांत धृतराष्ट्र को सुनाते हैं।

गीता का प्रसंग युद्ध से एकदम पहले प्रस्तुत किया गया है जहाँ श्री कृष्ण और अर्जुन के मध्य हो रहे संवाद का सम्पूर्ण उल्लेख दिया गया है।
