“O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.” (Al Quran 2:208)
Some prefer to be spiritual and devote themselves to Allah while caring less for worldly matters. Others prefer a more legalistic approach, applying hukum to everything that they do in life. Looking at the world with the lens of halal and haram. While some others prefer a humanistic approach to Islam, valuing the essence and principles of Islam and dilute the importance of rituals in Islam.
With these viewpoints adopted by some Muslims i.e spirituality, legalistic and humanistic in Islam, can we as Muslims choose one over the rest or should we embrace all the viewpoints available? If so, how do we achieve to be the balanced individual in our daily lives when practicing Islam?
