2m wingspan thermal soaring glider with elevator and rudder control, powered by a 2S LiPo and a 9 x 5 foldable propeller.
Flight Review:
This flight of the F3 RES thermal glider took place in a calm ten knot westerly at a secluded beach location. The launch was a hand launch from the carpark. Immediately working the lift coming in off the slope and establishing height without rushing the airframe.
Once established, I began moving back and forth along the beach, using each pass to explore a different flight envelope. Some serious height was established.
The aircraft felt predictable and ladings were made into a carpark for fun. The ocean added an obvious element of risk, the glider sailed beautifully in this environment and never felt uncomfortable.
I would not want much more than ten knots with this airframe, but within that range it shows a pleasing level of versatility. Even in light winds, the glider demonstrates stable and refined flight characteristics that suit slope and thermal work extremely well.
