Hey, everyone. Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fog lights with the back light. But before we get into that, let's take a minute. We'll check these out and see if they're gonna work for you. So a light like this for the 4Runner makes perfect sense to use.

You know, for those of you that go offroading can always use extra light, right And even just for regular daily driving, you know, it definitely doesn't hurt to have more visibility. And with these being that they're custom made for the 4Runner, they look awesome, and they don't look like an afterthought. These are going to just simply replace your existing fog lights. So comes with everything you need to make the swap. It's real straightforward.

And not only with better lighting, I think they look a lot cooler too, you know, just the overall appearance of 'em. It definitely matches the look of the 4Runner, looks aggressive, at least in my opinion. So you kind of get a double upgrade there. And these have the backlight feature as well. So you have your fog light of course, and then you can do something else here, which I'll go ahead and turn 'em on, so I can show you what we're talking about here.

They'll also be able to light up in a almost an orange or amber color, and it'll act almost like a daytime running light. You know this isn't very bright in this color, but it definitely helps people see us. You get a little extra safety feature there. And honestly, I think it looks cool too. You know, when you don't necessarily need your fog lights on, but you want something there, kind of separate yourself from the rest of the pack.

With the amount of different lights available today. I know one of the first things I personally look for, I'm sure a lot of you do as well, is the performance of it, right How's it gonna hold up to some of the other options So thankfully, you know, I was lucky enough to be able to compare these to a couple of the other lights and see how they all stack up. So why don't we check that out. Here's where you can really tell as well, you know, I got our lights on and shining on the garage door. Right side is our Diode. This is our factory. Pretty obvious which one has an advantage there. The Diode light, the spread is much greater, you know, so you're covering a lot more ground. It's almost, you know, you can't even really hardly tell. Our factory one is barely doing anything. So once you get both of these in, it'll be night and day difference for sure. I also wanted to put the Diode light up against another upgrade. Okay And so over here on the driver's side, I removed our factory bulb and installed an LED fog light made by ARC, which we also carry here. And this is a direct replacement. Pops in. Plugs in. That's really all there is to it. And no doubt about it, the ARC one is definitely a major improvement over the factory type bulb, but compared to the Diode light, I'm definitely more of a fan of the Diode one still. And I say that because I feel like the light is much more clear, you know, clarity. It's just a cleaner light, if you ask me. And the overall power of it, I feel like it's still brighter and puts off much more of a spread still. Kind of see what I'm talking about here with the lights off and everything, what I mean by the spread of the Diode light, as well as the clarity of it. So for example, this one over here, this beam is from our ARC light, and it has a 6,500 K color temperature. So a little more blue. And a lot of times when you kind of get to that range, it kind of tricks your brain into thinking that it's brighter than what it really is. Alright It looks good for sure. The Diode light is gonna have a 6,000 K color temperature. So pretty close, but you can tell the difference there. And really what I think a lot of it's gonna boil down to between these two is just the raw output. You know, the amount of lumens and how powerful the light is. So with the ARC, you're looking at, you know, 1,550 lumens up to 1,995, just depending on runtime, how hot it gets. And with the Diode light, you're looking at 3,000 lumens. So you know, after a while you're almost double the output there. So it makes a lot of sense why you get so much more spread with the Diode
