Описание: The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) files charges of graft, direct bribery, and malversation of public funds against Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) chief Hesus Fernandez and a supplier over the alleged P14.752 million in kickbacks from a P500-million ambulance procurement deal.

In a press briefing, the DILG chief laid out what he called an "ecosystem of corruption" within the BFP, detailing how Fernandez allegedly manipulated the bidding process for 132 ambulances and received the "SOP" money in a suitcase at a Quezon City restaurant.

Supplier Rosa Verna Sanga of Autozone Prime Distributors Inc. was also named in the complaint filed before the Office of the Ombudsman. The DILG chief added that this is just "part one" of the charges, with another investigation ongoing into the alleged bid-rigging of multi-billion peso firetruck contracts. He also encouraged the public to report corrupt fire inspectors to the 911 hotline.
