During the world wars, soldiers were known to be very valiant, strong, and authoritative, with great determination to defend their countries on the battlefield. The image of a soldier was closely tied to strict discipline, bravery, and outstanding physical strength. However, in the present day, this image has shifted. Modern soldiers are not only seen as symbols of strength, but also carry more diverse values. Some of them openly support the LGBT community and even identify as part of it. This reflects that the modern military is no longer solely about physical strength and warfare, but also about diversity, identity, and acceptance. This comparison raises the question of how we perceive soldiers of the past, who were seen as strong and valiant, compared to today’s soldiers who also embody social values and diversity.
