The Basmala is the titular name of the Islamic phrase “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”. It is one of the most important phrases in Islam and frequently recited by Muslims before performing daily activities and religious practices, including prayer.
Name
The literal meaning of Tasmiyah is to take a name and in the terminology of Sharia , to take the name of Allah. Its various words have been mentioned in the Hadiths. The most famous words are Bismillah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem. It is a verse of the Holy Quran, but it is not part of Surah Fatiha or any other Surah. Therefore, it should not be recited aloud in prayer. It is narrated in Bukhari and Muslim that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Siddiq Akbar and Farooq Azam (may Allah be pleased with him) used to start their prayers with Al-Hamdu Lillahi
