Teddi Mellencamp is continuing a difficult and deeply personal fight against stage 4 brain cancer, and her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, is shedding light on what she is going through behind the scenes. Nearly a year after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum revealed she had multiple brain tumors, Edwin shared an honest update during the January 19 episode of iHeartRadio’s The Eds podcast.
According to Edwin, one of the most challenging parts of Teddi’s journey has been her inability to maintain the active lifestyle she once loved. Known for her dedication to fitness, Teddi has struggled emotionally with being unable to work out as she used to. While she has recently started moving her body again, ongoing immunotherapy treatments have caused significant side effects, taking a toll on her mental health.
Despite these hardships, Edwin emphasized a powerful and hopeful development. Doctors can no longer see the tumors, something he described as nothing short of a miracle. He explained that the odds of such a result were incredibly small, calling it a blessing that has given their family renewed hope.
Edwin also spoke about the mental battle Teddi continues to face, noting that staying positive is often harder than enduring the physical pain. He regularly reminds her to acknowledge how far she has come and to give herself credit for her strength. While negative thoughts can easily surface, Edwin believes focusing on progress is key to survival.
Although the couple separated in November 2024, Edwin remains committed to supporting Teddi and being a strong presence for their three children. He shared that showing up during this difficult time is essential, both as a father and as a role model, emphasizing respect, compassion, and unwavering family support.
