Raisin Snails are a very popular pastry in Germany and Austria!
These airy raisin snails with yeast dough are much easier to make than you think. The raisins provide that special something and make the small pieces of dough simply irresistible.
‘Schnecken’ means snails in German, a reference the spiral shape of this pastry.
👉🏼 INGREDIENTS
(FOR APPROX. 16 RAISIN SNAILS):
for the dough:
• 375 g of flour
• 60 g of sugar
• 25 g fresh yeast
• 180 ml milk
• 50g butter
• 2 sachets of vanilla sugar
• 1 pinch of salt
for the filling:
• 40 g butter
• 60 g of sugar
• ground cinnamon
• 200 g raisins
• 1 egg to brush
Baking time 15-20 minutes
