Rethinking the Teapot A New Approach to Function and Form

Описание: This week, I took on one of my favorite parts of the ceramic process—innovation. In this video, I walk through the design and making of a custom teapot for a customer who requested a large vessel. That one detail—large—opened up a whole set of creative challenges and design opportunities.

I share my process from concept sketches over morning coffee to the complexities of throwing, trimming, and assembling a fully functional teapot. This piece includes a tilt-pouring stand to ease lifting, a finger rest for stability, and careful attention to spout geometry for smooth, drip-free pouring.

Teapots are among the most demanding ceramic forms. They must hold scalding liquid, pour cleanly, and feel intuitive in the hand. I hope this video gives you a deeper appreciation for what it takes to make utility beautiful.
