Patent number 104206 was issued to Isaiah J. Robinson on June 14th, 1870. The patent was for a unique and effective method for locking the blade of a bevel square from the end of the handle instead of from the side. This innovation not only eliminated the interference of a side clamp but also improved upon its clamping effectiveness.
