ISLAND HOPPING FRENCH POLYNESIA| Sailing Raiatea!

Описание: In this episode we are leaving Moorea. We will be sailing to the Island of Raiatea which is about 100 miles away from here.

Our sailor friends will be sailing there too and we will meet them in Raiatea.

We got light winds so we motor sailed most of the voyage. At least the ocean was calm and the skies were clear. We had a beautiful and calm overnight crossing.

The sacred island of Raiatea is in the Society Islands in the western part of French Polynesia.
The next morning we went to meet our friends kai, lili, Noah and Andre to go snorkeling and surfing.

We also visit Faaroa Bay and the Faaroa River which is the only navigable river in Polynesia. Going up the Faaroa River is a unique experience in French Polynesia. We took a dingy ride through the magnificent rainforest of the island of Raiatea.

In the middle of the ride we found the Faaroa Botanical Garden and decided to stop and check it out. This park is privately owned but entering is free. Walking through the 7 acre property gives you a chance to see the native flora and fauna.

On our way back we met a local who invited us to see his land where he grows all his food and takes care of the land every day. He was so kind and generous, he gave us a tour around his property. He had all the food you can imagine from taro, coconuts, guava, noni, ulu, lemons, green beans, pineapple and more.

The property was beautiful and he told us he like to show his land and share his food cause that’s what life is about.

He send us back home with so much fruits and vegetables. He was a really kind man very proud of his roots.
That same night we all cooked and had the most delicious dinner.

It was time for us to keep moving. We sailed to a beautiful anchorage by Motu Miri Miri. This place was so beautiful. The sunset and the view of Bora Bora and Taha’a was breathtaking.

Couple days later we motor sail for 3 hours to Teto’oroa Bay to meet our friends again.

In our next episode we will be heading to Taha’a , Raiatea’s sister island.
