At the dawn of the 20th century, two brothers from Dayton Ohio, Orville and Wilbur Wright, set out to solve one of humanity’s oldest dreams: human flight.
Before they built engines, the Wrights tested their ideas with gliders. On the sandy slopes of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, they experimented with wing designs and control systems, watched closely by curious spectators.
On December 17th, 1903, Orville Wright made history. His fragile machine lifted from Kill Devil Hill and flew for just 12 seconds. This was the first sustained, powered flight in human history.
