Lennox Head is a relaxed seaside village in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

It is located 754 kilometres north of Sydney and 20 kilometres south of Byron Bay. It has a famous surf beach, stunning freshwater lake, amazing coastal walks and a laid-back atmosphere.

In today’s video, we wander around town, visit the Pat Morton Lookout, and explore Lake Ainsworth and Seven Mile Beach. We also go to Killen Falls and Boulder Beach.

Pacific Parade is the main street that meanders through town and it has a great selection of cafes, restaurants, boutiques and retail shops, overlooking the beach.

The Pat Morton Lookout is a few minutes' drive or a half-hour walk along the coastal boardwalk from Lennox Head. It is located on the top of Lennox Point, and has fantastic views over the village and up Seven Mile Beach.

Lennox Head was declared a National Surfing Reserve in 2007, and the right-hand point-break at Lennox Head is one of Australia's most famous waves. The Pat Morton lookout is a great place to watch the surfers.

You can also wander up the steps to the lookout at the top of the headland for more fantastic views. It’s also common to see dolphins, and whales from May to October, from the headland.

Lake Ainsworth is a large freshwater lake that covers an area of about 12 hectares and it’s a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The lake has a brown colour, which comes from the dark tannins from the surrounding paperbark trees.

It’s an ideal swimming spot and is also popular for stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing. Around the lake there are walking paths, barbecues, picnic tables and grassy areas.

A short walk from Lake Ainsworth brings you to Seven Mile beach.

Seven Mile Beach is a long, uninterrupted stretch of sand, and is famous for its consistent waves and strong surf conditions, making it a very popular spot for surfers. It is also a lovely spot for swimming, walking and relaxing on the beach.

Killen Falls is approximately 14 kilometres from Lennox Head at Killen Falls Reserve, Tintenbar.

A 600 metre return walk through the last standing remnants of the big scrub rainforest, brings you to Killen Falls viewing platform. Here you can admire the water from Emigrant Creek falling approximately 10 metres over the cliff face.

You can then continue down the steep path and about 100 metres along the rocky river bed to the base of Killen Falls. The hike to the base is a grade 3 bush walk and is approximately 1 kilometre return.

At the base you can sit and watch Killen Falls cascade into the circular pool below.

Situated between Skennars Head and Lennox Head is the Boulder Beach and Headland. Boulder Beach is covered with basalt rocks and it is a popular surf break.

Then wander up to the Headland to enjoy the wonderful views of Lennox Head. You can also explore the rockpools at low tide.
