The Mary Sue is a trope that's been heavily discussed and many people tend to get it wrong. Rey, Captain Marvel, Bella Swan, Wesley Crusher, I'm going to explain the distinction between Mary Sues like these, and why they're different from characters like Harry Potter, Batman, Luke Skywalker, and Saitama. As well as the most integral part of the Mary Sue trope.
