I made this video for my year 8 and 9 classes at an Auckland school. When I asked my year 8s if they had heard of Parihaka on Monday November 5th, 2012 - the answer was a unanimous NO! I told them the outline of the story and they wanted to know more. Many were shocked at what had happened to the people of Parihaka and I promised them that would put some resources together so that they could learn more and share the story with their whanau.
This short video is a starting point.
Most of the images are sourced from the National Library of New Zealand. They have an online database of photographs and these can be downloaded.
