As an early year's teacher, I always try and find ways of expanding children's horizons by introducing them to different cultures, traditions and religions. It's important for children to understand that people are different and come from different backgrounds. I do this by using the Montessori Method. So this month, I'd teach the children about Diwali using objects and craft activities that are familiar to them and easy for them to use. I always try to make the activities eco-friendly as well, to show that we can use things from our environment. That kind of exploration, for example finding leaves to use in craft activities is an activity in itself.

Recipe for Homemade Glue:

2 or 3 Empty sterilized small glass jars
100g Corn Starch
1 Tablespoon clear vinegar
1 Tablespoon salt
700ml Boiling water

Method:
1. In a cook pot mix all the ingredients except water.
2. Over a low heat little by little add water until the mass is fluid.
3. Keep mixing the fluid until yogurt consistency.
4. Your glue is ready; use it when it´s cool down.
5. If the glue gets thick add warm water to the thinness you want.
6. The glue will keep until three months.
