Shandong school guzheng solo 山东筝派 by Gao Zicheng 高自成: "Gao Shan Liu Shui"《高山流水》

Описание: A performance of "Gao Shan Liu Shui"《高山流水》(High Mountains and Flowing Waters), a piece from the Shandong school of guzheng playing (Chinese: Shandong zheng pai, 山东筝派, also known as Qi-Lu zheng pai, 齐鲁筝派). The guzheng (古筝, literally "ancient zheng") is a Chinese bridge zither.

The performer is Mr. Gao Zicheng (高自成, 1918-2010), a native of Heze (菏泽市), southwestern Shandong province, eastern China who was a prominent exponent of the Shandong school of guzheng playing (Chinese: Shandong zheng pai, 山东筝派, also known as Qi-Lu zheng pai, 齐鲁筝派). Along with Zhao Yuzhai (赵玉斋, 1923-1998 or 1999), another Heze native who went on to become a master of the Shandong school of guzheng playing, in his youth Gao studied with the blind master musician Wang Dianyu (王殿玉, 1899-1964). Gao went on to become a longtime professor at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music (西安音乐学院) in Xi'an (西安市), Shaanxi province (陕西省), northwest China. In this performance, Gao uses a zheng with (probably) 16 steel strings.

Probably filmed by Mr. Wong Wai Kee (黄袆琦; Mandarin: Huang Huiqi; b. 1939) at the inaugural Yangzhou Zheng Festival (首届扬州筝会), held in Yangzhou (扬州市), central Jiangsu province, east-central China, 1986.
