COFFERDAM REMOVED! EARTH DAM COMPLETE! BRIDGEWATER CANAL BREACH HUGE UPDATE! WHEN WILL WORK START?

Описание: Today I return to the Bridgewater canal breach, now 13 months since it first breached here at Dunham Massey on the 1st of January 2025! As today is finally the day, that the Earth Dam, which started to be built in December, is finally done! It was originally supposed to be completed before Christmas, but due to the terrible weather we had at the time, the clay was not delivered on time, and the work site was flooded. Meaning the cofferdams, which were put in place a year ago, had to stay in a little longer, until the earth dam was completed. So now the guys from Onsite, Portadam are here to, at last, remove their rear cofferdam and to start letting water in slowly to the earth dam. firstly through repairs need to be made to the, what we thought was a "sinkhole". Turns out it's not, it's actually caused by water running underneath the material of the second cofferdam, thanks to there being not enough weight on it to stop water from getting underneath, so the water has carved a channel. The first cofferdam will then be removed in a few weeks time.

I also asked the guys at Peel how long we might expect for works to finally start, on actually repairing the breach itself! Well, the answer is a little disappointing. They don't think work will actually start until June or July at the earliest! This is due to more surveys and logistics behind the scenes of repairing a breach of this size! I also asked if it was still on schedule to reopen for December 2026, and they said "we're hoping to". Once the actual repair work starts on the breach, it will probably only take 6 months; most of what takes the time is the preparations! So it is still very realistic for it to reopen in December 2026.
