Описание: Traveling to South Madagascar, many contrasting images and unimaginable realities grasp your attention. It is, however, impossible to comprehend how a mother can give birth to a pair of twins and send her second child for slaughtering! In Mananjary village, a rare genetic disorder causes an increased rate of twins being born. Due to a lack of proper education and basic knowledge of biology, the tribe believes that the second child is possessed. As such, the pregnant women are forced to go through with the labor of both children, so that the second baby is identified upon birth. The newborn is then taken to slaughter for the tribe’s expiation.

Thus, we set our new goal, to build a prototype orphanage, within a restricted area. It will provide a safe and secure environment, where children, who would otherwise be killed as a result of being the second twin, can live and get an education without fear for their lives. The orphanage complex will include a school, a clinic, a sports field, and an activity center where the children can get in touch with the land and nature.

Construction time is estimated at around a year since the bricks have to be manufactured on-site with local soil. The total costs are around 100 thousand euros, which includes sourcing of the building materials and a salary for two builders who are permanently employed by our movement.

Ταξιδεύοντας στη Νότιο Μαδαγασκάρη πολλές αντιθέσεις και παράλογα σου τραβάνε την προσοχή. Είναι δύσκολο να κατανοήσει κανείς πως μια μάνα που γεννά δίδυμα δίνει το δεύτερο παιδί που γεννιέται για σφαγή! Στο χωριό Mananjary μια γονιδιακή μετάλλαξη οδηγεί τις γυναίκες να κυοφορούν δίδυμα. Λόγω έλλειψης παιδείας και βασικών γνώσεων βιολογίας, η φυλή θεωρεί ότι το δεύτερο παιδί είναι δαιμονισμένο. Αναγκάζει έτσι τις γυναίκες να ολοκληρώνουν την κύηση κανονικά, για να είναι βέβαιοι πιο είναι το δεύτερο κατά σειρά παιδί στη γέννα. Το παιδί αυτό οδηγείται σε σφαγή για τον εξαγνισμό της φυλής.

Θέτουμε λοιπόν ως νέο στόχο τη δημιουργία ενός πρότυπου ορφανοτροφείου που θα χτιστεί σε περιφραγμένη γη. Το έργο θα παρέχει ένα ασφαλές περιβάλλον, όπου τα παιδιά αυτά θα μεγαλώνουν και θα μορφώνονται χωρίς κανένα κίνδυνο για τη ζωή τους. Το σύνολο της ανάπτυξης θα συμπεριλαμβάνει σχολείο, κλινική, χώρο αθλοπαιδιών, χώρο ανάπτυξης δεξιοτήτων και τριβής με τη γη και τη φύση.

Ο χρόνος κατασκευής του έργου έχει υπολογισθεί στον ένα χρόνο καθώς τα τούβλα που θα χρησιμοποιηθούν πρέπει να κατασκευαστούν επί τόπου με τοπικό χώμα. Το έργο έχει κοστολογηθεί στα 100 χιλιάδες ευρώ, τα οποία θα καλύψουν τα υλικά κατασκευής και τον μισθό δύο οικοδόμων που έχουν εργοδοτηθεί μόνιμα από την δράση.
