This is a big win for the catfish community, as trophy pay lakes in Ohio and Kentucky have severely depleted catfish populations in rivers and lakes across the Southeast, and possibly the Midwest. Transporting trophy fish is illegal in Tennessee and Alabama, and Kentucky is now stepping up with similar laws to protect this valuable resource. These giant catfish play a crucial role in maintaining healthy waterways, supporting both trophy and eater catfish populations. Unfortunately, many of these fish are being wasted in small, overcrowded ponds where they die. There was another bust in Kentucky just a month before this one, signaling a positive shift toward restoring our catfish populations for future generations.
