DC-Area Churches Walk with Congregants Hit by the Shutdown as Financial Uncertainty Hits Home

Описание: WASHINGTON, D.C. – More than half a million federal furloughed employees will miss their first full paychecks this week due to the government shutdown. Many of those affected are turning to their faith for tangible help.

The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle is considered the mother church of Washington's Catholic archdiocese. It serves a diverse parish of about 2,200, and lately, many here feel the sting of the government shutdown.

Monsignor Ronald Jameson told us, "I'm sensing a real sense of, you might even call it fear."
