Barry Black is the 62nd Chaplain of the United States Senate, serving in the role since 2003. He is the first African American to hold this position, bringing a distinguished background as a retired Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy and former Chief of Navy Chaplains. Born in 1948, Black was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and earned degrees from institutions such as Oakwood University, Andrews University, and a Doctor of Ministry from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Known for his powerful oratory and deep spiritual insight, he offers daily prayers in the Senate, providing spiritual guidance to lawmakers and their families. Beyond his chaplaincy, Black is also an author and public speaker, often emphasizing themes of faith, leadership, and service.

As an internationally-acclaimed speaker and TV presenter, he has spoken and produced numerous documentaries on subjects including the Bible, Bible prophecy, world events and natural health. His passion is to share the good news of Jesus’ imminent return.
