Gorges du Verdon - Rive Gauche, Balcony Road D71, Maritime Alps, France - by motorcycle and drone

Описание: The Gorges du Verdon runs mainly in an east-west direction. On the south side of this gorge, also called "Rive Gauge", runs the panoramic road D71. This road starts in the east just after the village of Trigance and then leads for about 27 km to Aiguines, which is only a few kilometers away from the "Lac de Sainte-Croix". In several wide loops, the road moves away from the gorge, only to return again and again to the edge of the precipice. Coming from the east, one first meets the "Balcon de la Mescla" and crosses a plateau that is then cut by a branch of the Verdon Gorge, but can be crossed over the bridge "Pont de l'Artuby". Shortly after follows the "Tunnel du Fayet" with a gallery cut into the rock. Passing a number of viewpoints, and also a hotel, the road continues to the west, which then leads in wide serpentines down to Aiguines and the "Lac de Saint-Croix". The road is well maintained and overall easy to drive. Some places are a bit confusing and you should watch out for oncoming traffic. It is particularly narrow at the "Tunnel du Fayet"; caution is advised here. The road is located in the Var department and there in the Provence-Alpes-Côt-d'Azur region.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
