Ordered as part of the same batch of locomotives for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway from Todd, Kitson & Laird of Leeds, Tiger was the twin sister to the more famous Lion. Sharing the same dimensions and service history from 1838 to 1846, Tiger was scrapped in May 1850 whilst Lion was sold in 1859.
