In this video you will learn, step by step, how to make the ceramic vase you see in the image. This is a handbuilding tutorial and you do not need to use a pottery wheel or any professional tools. Most of the process is done using the coil building technique.

One important point is to try to use fresh clay. The clay should have good moisture and be relatively soft. From the beginning of the process, gradually reduce the thickness of the coils you are using as the form grows.

As the height increases, every 3 to 5 centimeters you should allow the piece to rest so the clay can reach a leather-hard stage. After that you can continue building the form.

If there is a pause during your work and the piece reaches the leather-hard stage, make sure to score between the coils and use clay slip before continuing.

The clay I used in this video is red earthenware clay. At the end of the video you will see images of the piece after the first firing.
