At first sight, the city of shtip or Štip or Штип is not at all a tourist destination.
Even macedonian people are surprised to find out we went here. Shtip has the ruin of a fortress on a hill overlooking the city. The climb up there is pretty easy and on top of the hill you get great views of the area.
At night the city center gets pretty busy and most restaurants and bars fill up quick.
Burning Backpack takes a trip to Skopje. What are all the sights to see? We discover Kale fortress and the old bazaar.
The new city center is full of majestic buildings and statues. The old bazaar is cozy with narrow streets and small shops, restaurants and cafes.
We also take a look at the museum about the earthquake in Skopje. This is housed in the former trains station south of the city center.
