I'm sure that many teachers watching this can relate with the fact that many of the real skills and abilities that are necessary for teaching and working in schools are not taught in teacher training programs. Just a disclaimer I enjoyed my time at Uni, I studied a 4 year undergraduate BA course in primary education with literacy. I did learn a lot about the curriculum, best practice, teaching theory, preparing lesson plans, and gathering teacher resources However, I did not learn a lot about real world skills, both for the classroom and for working in a school in general and that’s why I decided to make this video. Nothing could have prepared me for the shock to the system that was my probationary year. It was a huge learning curve. I decided to film today’s video as I think this makes for an interesting discussion, it might be helpful in preparing trainee teachers for what to expect from the job!
