In 2009, nearly 90 acres of land belonging to the villages Badoli and Pahladpur in Faridabad, Haryana was forcibly acquired in the name of development for Sectors 75, 76, and 80.
The government initially fixed compensation at ₹16.30 lakh per acre, later increasing it to ₹24.90 lakh per acre for road construction. The land was valued at ₹600 per sq. ft. Although the Punjab & Haryana High Court enhanced the compensation to ₹1260 per sq. ft., the Supreme Court of India later reduced it back to ₹600 per sq. ft., leaving farmers and villagers without fair justice.
This acquisition was carried out without the consent of villagers, even though the land was not taken for any hospital, university, or public welfare project, but only for road construction. Shockingly, around 486 permanent houses, inhabited for 40–50 years across generations, already existed on this land.
Despite the fact that Lal Dora (village boundary) had already been abolished by the Haryana government—making village expansion necessary—the authorities instead restricted village limits and initiated demolitions.
More disturbing is that houses were demolished at 5 AM without prior notice, raising serious legal and constitutional questions.
Even more alarming, the government auctioned the land without taking lawful possession, which is clearly illegal under Indian law. While the land was acquired from villagers at ₹600–700 per sq. ft., the same land was later auctioned at prices as high as ₹2 lakh per sq. ft.—an act that appears unjust, unethical, and unlawful.
For the past one and a half months, villagers of Badoli and Pahladpur have been holding a peaceful protest, with thousands participating daily to protect their land, homes, and constitutional rights.
The villagers demand:
Immediate cancellation of the land auction
Refund with interest to all plot buyers
Release of land to original owners
Hon’ble leaders Shri Rajesh Nagar Ji and Shri Vipul Goyal Ji have assured that the land will be released and the buyers’ money refunded. Villagers have clearly stated that they will end the protest only after receiving this assurance in written government documentation.
This struggle is not just about two villages—it reflects the reality of millions of villages across India.
If villages survive, India survives.
✊ This is a fight for justice, dignity, and the soul of rural India.
