EP1 Overlanding in Japan - Tokyo to Shikoku - FJ Cruiser Solo Trip

Описание: Welcome to the first part of my solo 5-day Japan overland trip from Tokyo to Shikoku, in a modified FJ Cruiser 4x4 with rooftop tent!

Day 1: Tokyo to Shiga
I started my trip early in the morning, heading to Meguro, where I rented this FJ Cruiser from Overland Campers Japan, a boutique rental agency that offers fully equipped overlanding vehicles. I left Tokyo behind and headed west towards Shiga. The overall goal of this trip was to explore the Mount Tsurugi Super Rindo Forest Road by four wheel drive. It's Japan's longest public mountain 4x4 trail, a vast network that's 87.7 km of rugged mountain passes and forest roads, some parts paved and some parts off-road. It is also known as the Super Forest Road, or simply: Super Rindo. In Japanese it's 剣山スーパー林道.
The drive was long, but it was also beautiful, passing through some of Japan's most scenic countryside. I even saw Mount Fuji, which I will visit on the way back.
I arrived in Shiga in the afternoon and checked into a campsite. The campsite was deserted, and I had the whole place to myself. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Day 2: Shiga to Tukushima
After a good night's sleep, I was ready to hit the road again. I drove from Shiga to the mountains around Tukushima, and set up camp alongside a river. I couldn't see the entire view from my campsite because I arrived at night, but in the moonlight I could see the silhouettes of surrounding mountains. I cooked dinner and enjoyed the peacefulness of the river. It was a perfect way to end my second day on the road.
