Описание: Volunteering to be the best scout leader you can be will always leave a legacy. Many scout leaders “pay it forward” through selfless service to others. Adult leaders must understand the level of their commitment to preventing burnout. Long or short-term leaders need to have a game plan. Developing a leadership team within the unit is critical to success. Adult leaders throughout the year should have activities that focus on the fellowship and teamwork of the leadership. Being recognized for their achievements has more significant when awarded in a leadership team.

🔑 Show Notes: Bing a better scout leader this year is important not only for yourself but for the youth you will work with. You can only do this in a team leadership environment. We'll talk about specific leader-planning opportunities later in the video. Understanding what it means to leave a legacy is a lot like paying it forward in scouting.

Leave a Legacy – Every Scouting Youth you work with gains something from you, just being there.
1. Be the best leader you can be by being the best trained & informed and up-to-date with your certifications.
2. Remember not to become burned out by not remembering the five points in burnout prevention. I have a video on that right up here.
3. Decide as soon as possible whether you are in for the Long Haul or Short Term Leader.
• Long Haul Leaders – Looking at the long game of scouting over many generations.
• Short-Term Leaders – Should accelerate their scouting with their youth so that they can exit with a job well done.

Adult Leaders Planning Seminar (Any of these could be an overnighter or weekend camping event of their own.) – Adult meetings without the youth are a wonderful opportunity to build a stronger team. This includes all leaders (including spouses) and all parents.
Unit Leadership Summit (Spring) – This is usually in a meeting format (10 AM-2 PM). Upcoming leadership challenges and planning for the year.
Summer Camp Survival Party (Summer) – This is a great way for adult leaders to get together after summer camp. This could also be held at a restaurant. Keep it light it's a party.
Recruitment Retreat (Fall) – This meeting is critical to having a good recruitment season. Often this turns into an open forum or brainstorming event.
Christmas Leader Party (Winter) – Traditionally this is a potluck of the leaders getting together to celebrate the holidays. No real agenda so keep it light, it's a party.
